Ice margins simply don't get sharper than this one south of Chelan, Washington. The southwesternmost corner of the Laurentide Ice Sheet spread south from Canada and stopped here. A belt of hilly terrain dotted with huge black basalt boulders has a razor-sharp boundary with smooth hills to the west (left) that were not glaciated and were covered with wind-deposited soil called loess.

Location 47^o 50' 00" N, 119^o 52' 14" W. The individual boulders are visible on Google Earth.
