Mount Coolidge, South Dakota

Bison near Mount Coolidge.

Looking North

Looking northwest. In the views below, the highest peak is Harney Peak. Mount Coolidge offers perhaps the best panorama of any peak in the Black hills.

Looking East

Mount Coolidge is deep within the Precambrian core of the Black hills. The inner distant hills  are the Paleozoic cuesta. The outer distant hills just before the sunlit plains are the Jurassic cuesta.

Below: a shower over the plains, with hints of a rainbow.

Looking South

Views south and southwest.

A panorama spanning more than 360 degrees, a composite of pictures from several vantage points.
