How Big is Asteroid Itokawa?

Steven Dutch, Professor Emeritus, Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Wisconsin - Green Bay

The pictures here are to give some idea of the size of the tiny asteroid Itokawa. It's about 1-1/2 times as long as an aircraft carrier and, if we count end zones, about 5 football fields long, 3 high and 2 wide. The asteroid is seen here oriented diagonally to our line of sight, so it doesn't appear as long as it really is.
